Stephen C Young, MD

Dr. Stephen C. Young was raised in Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1983.  He received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1987 and subsequently completed his Internal Medicine Residency at MCV where he was recognized as an “Outstanding Medical Resident” by the Department of Internal Medicine.  Dr. Young is board certified in Internal Medicine (1990, recertified 2010) and is an active member of several professional societies including the American College of Physicians, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Richmond Academy of Medicine. In 1990, Dr. Young entered private practice and later became a founding partner of Virginia Diabetes & Endocrinology, P.C.  He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.  Dr. Young is a past Chief of Internal Medicine at both St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia and Chippenham/Johnston-Willis Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia.        As a well-respected member of the medical community, Dr. Young was rated “Best Internist by Healthcare Professionals and Physicians” in Richmond Magazine in 1998-2015.  Dr. Young was also the recipient of the American Diabetes Association and the National Committee for Quality Assurance “Recognition with Distinction Award” and the American Medical Association “Physician Recognition Award.” Dr. Young’s medical interests include Diabetes, Hypertension, and lipid disorders.  While outside of work, Dr. Young enjoys running and spending time with his family.
